Aldermore Group team up to raise over £15,000 for the Headway charity
Now in its sixth year, Aldermore Group, including MotoNovo Finance, hosted its annual charity football tournament in memory of former colleague Adam Massen who sadly passed away in 2014 from a brain injury.
Adam was an avid football fan, so in his memory, the Aldermore team and guest teams from across the financial services sector come together every year to raise money for the Headway charity, whose mission is to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and provide information, support and services to survivors, their families and carers.
With this year’s fundraising exceeding £15,000, the event has now raised almost £70,000 to support Headway’s activities in its six year history.
This year, 21 teams competed in the five-a-side event, which took place at St George’s Park in Burton–on-Trent, the Football Association’s National Football Centre and home of England’s national teams and was hosted by former England footballer Mark Hateley.
After the group stages of the day, we split the tournament into two leagues so make sure everyone could enjoy the day as much as possible; Portman Finance won the Premier League and Aldermore won the Europa League.
While the on the pitch, MotoNovo’s team were the beaten Champions league finalists, Aldermore won the Europa League and Portman Finance won the Premier League, the real winner was celebrating Adam’s memory and raising a record amount for Headway as Chris Rowthorn, Director of Motor Sales Operation at MotoNovo Finance, reflected;
“The opportunity to honour Adam’s memory and raise money for the amazing Headway charity at the same time feels like a fitting tribute. While I did not know Adam personally, the fact that this important event has now run for six years is a mark of the respect in which he was held. Well-being has gained an increased focus over recent years, and the opportunity to support Headway, which does invaluable work to help brain injury survivors struck down by brain injuries, is a fitting cause. I could not be more delighted to learn we have raised a record amount this year.”
